SUCH IS THE LEAKAGE from Marsworth Flight that water has to be run down every morning.
This means a member of Canal & River Trust has to fill the locks owing to the leaking of water, as can be seen from Howard Clarke's photograph taken this week.
This is on the summit pound of the Grand Union Canal at Bulbourne with two arms leading off the waterway.
The leakage from these locks has been getting worse every year, and were partly to blame for their closure in the recent drought, with the water being so wasted.
Being double locks they need a great deal of water of course to fill.
