WHEN THE ENGINEERS visited the Bar Lane Swing Bridge 197 they discovered two problems.
On the Leeds & Liverpool swing bridge they found that the junction box was flooded.
But then having cleaned it out discovered there was also a broken connection, that was obviously stopping the bridge from working.

However the junction box is situated under the bridge. The pedestal is currently showing an error message and has no power to it.
So it will have to remain closed to canal traffic and to repair it will require a road closure.
