Widespread flooding
The Environmental Agency has warned of widespread flooding of rivers and surface water across much of England yesterday, Friday, with an even greater flood risk after the days downpour and the risk from river flooding continues throughout today, Saturday.
Local flooding from rivers is probable in parts of the Midlands and the East of England on Sunday and Monday, and possible more widely. Land, roads and some properties may flood from the rivers.
Get off rivers
Boaters moored on rivers are advised, if possible, to get off rivers and up onto canals, were there is a less likelihood of being swamped.
If stuck on a river make sure mooring lines are loose and securely fastened and frequently check. A quick rise in the water could easily turn a boat over if tied to tight to its moorings.
