Compact THE TINY GRADE II listed historic Staffs & Worcs canal toll house has sold at auction.
The quaint, detached property, slightly larger but not much more than a traditional ticket office, could be the ultimate lock up and leave property.
Sold for £18,000
Offered for sale by Paul Fosh Auctions, The Toll House, on York Street, Stourport-on-Severn, sold for £18,000 after being listed with a guide price of just £14,000.
Auctioneer Angie Davey, of Paul Fosh Auctions, tells:
“There was plenty of pre-auction interest in this quirky, one-of-kind former toll house which really is lost in time.
“The interest translated to five bidders who together lodged 10 bids with the lock keepers lodge eventually selling for a tidy £18,000.
“This cute chocolate box mini cottage, right on the banks of the canal and overlooking lock gate paddle sluice gates, could now offer a myriad of future uses."
Fairly basic
The property is fairly basic, with just a hallway and just one room, it doesn’t have a kitchen, bathroom or even toilet but nevertheless some enterprising person may want the pocket-sized property for use as an art, or writer’s or even musician’s studio, a hobby from home location or even as a man shed it was told.
