TO COINCIDE WITH the Middlewich lights switch-on there will also be a 'Christmas on the Canal' event.
Organised by Middlewich Round Table, this day of fun for the whole family to enjoy as Father Christmas makes his way along the canal in a narrowboat festooned with festive lights and decorations on Saturday 29th November.
First time
This is the first time the Trent & Mersey Canal town has organised such, and the organisers are hoping for a successful event.
Ant Nelson, one of the Round Table organisers, explained:
"We're all buzzing for it. We're a canal town and we wanted to embrace that.
There will be stalls and entertainment at the Salinae Field throughout the day, with floating boat traders on the waterfront, with a bar and stage on the field."
The day's event will start at 11am when Santa cruises up the waterway from Big Lock to Kings Lock with more activities at 3.30pm.
Choir singing
The Big Lock pub will also be host to a choir singing on its balcony, with other bars being open all day across Middlewich with live entertainment.
Any money raised from the event will be put into ‘Round Table funding’ which is used to help local schools and charities throughout the year.
