Steam weekend at Anderton
FOR THE SECOND YEAR, a Victorian extravaganza, is returning to the Anderton Boat Lift.
This being on Saturday and Sunday, May 10th and 11th from 10am to 4.30pm, Janet Friend reports.
In addtion to the steam-powered traction engines, lorries and steamrollers, this year’s event will include exhibits of working miniature steam engines.
Activities
Visitors can also partake of the real ale festival, craft beer tasting, a barbecue, licensed bars and of course activities for children, including the LEGO man.
There will be a flotilla of steamboats, both vintage and modern on the Weaver to complement the land-bound machines.
A spokesman for Canal and River Trust promised:
“Join us for a steam spectacular when a fleet of magnificent traction engines meets a flotilla of vintage steam boats under the iconic Anderton Boat Lift. “This is a unique, family-friendly steam festival with live demonstrations and interactive exhibits, bursting with old-world charm.”
This is free entry for the day.
