Another lift bridge failure

TALYBONT Lift Bridge has suffered a mechanical failure.

This  Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal bridge failed yesterday, Thursday, Keith Gudgin reports.

The failure was caused by a mechanical fault, Canal & River Trust advise.

Strangely it is currently closed to both canal and road users, with even a road diversion in place, and we are told that contractors and engineers are currently working 'on a method of repair'.

Loco Lift Bridge

The Loco Lift Bridge on the Huddersfield Broad Canal is still out of action, as in its case the 'method of repair' has still not been discovered.

This was closed on the 19th of November, and though various reasons have been given for its failure, none proved to be the correct one,
