Another tree problem on Leicester Section

Published: Thursday, 31 October 2024

AFTER the Leicester Section was closed with a giant tree in the navigation it is closed again by a tree.

This time it is a part of a tree that has become lodged in a paddle that has closed the navigation, Keith Gudgin reports.

Jammed in ground paddle

This has occurred at Junction Lock 47 near Cossington and a thick branch has been jammed in the ground paddle resulting in it not being able to work and not possible to equalise the water in the lock to be able to open a gate.

So the lock has been closed to navigation until the branch can be removed.

But once again specialist equipment will be required to remove the part of the tree, which, the trust relates, will be done as soon as possible, with the end of Wednesday of next week being told when more information will be given.
