Made it in time

WE JUST made it in time through Colwich Lock 21 on the Trent & Mersey, as it has been closed.

This lock was causing great problems taking us ages to get through with boats piling up as Victor related.  At the moment even our Keith Gudgin is stuck behind it!

Failed altogether

The top gate was rotten and now it has failed altogether it having snapped in two!

The trust state: 'The beam is severely rotted and on the verge of snapping, while the back plate has dropped by two inches. Boaters have been forced to jack the gate up to open it which poses a safety risk, so we have made the decision to close navigation'.

How boaters managed to jack the gate up is not revealed, but the lock should reopen late this afternoon we are told.
