Pigeon shooting on the Leeds & Liverpool

AROUND 60 dead pigeons have been found floating on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal.

They were discovered floating on the canal at Ormskirk, with a witness seeing lads with air rifles walking from the scene, Keith Gudgin reports.

Not killed outright

The local community were most upset as some of the birds had obvious not been killed outright but were flapping their wings but were unable to fly.

It was suggested it was bird flue, but this, it was told, would not happen in such a cluster in one place at one time. The bodies had not been examined for pellets.
