Breach in the Kennet & Avon Canal is worsening

THE Canal & River Trust has been 'unable to resolve' the breach in the Kennet & Avon Canal.

This is now worsening as it has been unable to 'resolve with water in the navigation', so unfortunately it states it means introducing an additional stoppage at Limpley Stoke, Keith Gudgin reports.

It was originally estimated the waterway would be closed from the Monday 22nd January until Friday 15th March—but this does not include the present closure from the 15th December until the the 22nd January that makes it a total of three months.

Additional stoppage

It is not stated what the 'additional stoppage' might be, but the trust is stating that it is striving for the contractors to be on site by the end of January, 2024.

But it further states it is expecting the navigation to be closed for around six weeks, while it install dams, removes the water from the canal and effects the repairs, but this is not understood, as this is already in progress and stated to end on the 22nd January that is just one week!
