Third party closes Swansea Canal for a month

THE Swansea Canal is to be closed for the entire month of January 2024.

This is caused by the third party, Drainforce, undertaking essential sewer repair work near Bridge 9 on the waterway, starting on the 2nd January and ending on the 30th January, Keith Gudgin reports.

Fixed pontoon

The work requires a fixed pontoon across the canal for the duration that will provide pedestrian access across the canal as the bridge will be closed to pedestrians.

This means that the navigation too will have to be closed for the duration of the work whilst the pontoon is in position.
