THERE was a 'structural issue' with a gate on the Calder & Hebble that closed the navigation yesterday, Tuesday.
It was the bottom towpath side gate making it unsafe to operate the lock, Keith Gudgin reports.
The trust's Lock Gate Engineer is travelling to the site to inspect the gate. Until this has been completed the lock is closed to navigation.
And another stoppage
Also yesterday, the Shirley Drawbridge on the North Stratford Canal was put out of action.
This was caused by a vehicle being driven into and damaging the barrier.
The trust tells its local team went out yesterday to allow the waiting boats through, as it is not known how long the repair will take.
