COBBLER'S Lock (72) has further deteriorated so has had to be closed.

Canal & River Trust maintain the lock had 'sustained damage' and had to restrict its use, Keith Gudgin reports.

Further Deteriorated

For a short while it allowed boat passage for two hours in the mornings, but now tells it has further deteriorated so have had to close the lock completely.

It is now a matter of it being inspected and a decision made as to what needs doing to get it back in working condition.

THERE was another closure, this time on the Grand Union Canal.

This is at Soulbury Three Locks where Lock 26 has closed the navigation with a broken balance beam.

But this was quickly repaired with an addition to the broken beam making the lock usable until the beam can be replaced, with the image provided by Graham Hardwick.
