THE Soar that was closed at Birstall Lock should reopen next Tuesday the 25th July.
We were informed it was a damaged top gate of Birstall Lock that closed the navigation, Keith Gudgin reports.
But not told what the damage was or how it was caused, just the inclination to blame. But as it needs a crane to remove the gate it must be way beyond what anyone could achieve.
Team now on hand
However we are told the maintenance team are now on hand removing the top gate and 'begin work on the repairs'.
Alas, unusually, we are still not told what repairs are being undertaken.
