Still not enough water

THE Chesterfield Canal is still closed through lack of water.
The waterway was closed from Boundary Lock to Norwood Tunnel last week through lack of rainfall, and is still closed. Keith Gudgin reports.
Restored section
This is the restored section of the waterway that includes the staircases of locks to the summit beyond Shireoaks Marina.
The reason for its closer Canal & River Trust relate: Despite recent rainfall, the first half of the year has been exceptionally dry, and Chesterfield Canal relies on a regular supply of rainfall to replenish its resources.
Too much rain
Yet the farmers tell us that the grain crop will be 40% less this year owing to too much rain...
