Rochdale broken culvert being investigated

THE Rochdale Canal has now been dewatered between the dams at the broken culvert.

The cause of the failure is now being investigated between locks 81 and 83 where the culvert collapsed, Keith Gudgin reports.

Work should commence

The culverts on the Rochdale really need inspecting and maintenance as in addition to this failure north of Manchester other such failures this year have been at Hebden Bridge and Chadderton.

As yet of course, there is no intimation when a repair will be completed.
