Mercia's monthly bandstand events

MERCIA Marina is putting its bandstand to good use by launching a live monthly event to help musicians and other performers showcase their talents.

It's inaugural Bandstand Busk will be this coming Sunday, 10th May, with plans to hold a similar Busk on the second Sunday of every month thereafter.

Musicians and other budding buskers are invited to contact the marina office to register an interest and potentially book one of the performance slots, between noon and 5pm, in advance.

The Bandstand Busk idea followed the completion of the marina's unique five-sided bandstand, which sits at one end of the new Boardwalk shopping and leisure development.

Tony Preston, sales and marketing manager for Mercia Marina, explained:

"This is all part of our drive to include and to be a big part of our community. We have a beautiful new bandstand and we know there is some fantastic musical talent in the area. We want to support that talent and, at the same time, provide some wonderful entertainment for our visitors."

The buskers taking up the offer will be free to collect money from their audiences.
