Investigation still continuing into boat fire

THE authorities are still continuing their investigation into the narrowboat fire on Mill Stream at Oxford, with its cause still not known.

A man was injured in the fire and taken to hospital, but the woman, Shamen Hazzard also living in the boat was away in Jericho at the time, and came back to see the boat in flames with fire fighters battling the inferno, Allan Richards tells us.

Completely burnt-out

The boat, Just Chillin was completely burnt-out and all the couple's possessions destroyed in the blaze. They had four dogs living with them in the boat, but alas, one of them, a cross Border Collie, was unable to escape and died in the fire.

There has been controversy about the many moored boats on Mill Stream in Oxford, so there is a feeling the fire was started deliberately, hence the police interest.
