Dean was the man

TO MY mind Dean Davis was one of the best managers the Canal & River Trust had, always willing to help boaters and putting himself out to do so, writes James Henry.

Unlike one manager—mentioning no name—who would not get off his backside to help anyone, Dean was well regarded, and I would like to congratulate Pam Pickett on her appraisal of him.

Ideal

I know that many boaters think as I do that he would have been the ideal Head of Customer Services, having been doing the job in the meantime, instead of some outsider no doubt on a career move to add 'charity' to his CV, who most likely knows little about our waterways and boaters' needs.

Personally I think you got it wrong about the new Chief Executive being a breath of fresh air, as the way he is setting on all these people he must believe he is the head of some mighty conglomerate instead of in charge of just a couple of thousand miles of waterway.
