Email: Not necessary

During the summer I had my boat moored by the flats at Brentford, [Grand Union Canal] and took particular notice of the passage of narrowboats either on to or off the Thames.

I certainly agree with your rider to the article (Where the money goes) about all those people who are now being employed by the Canal & River Trust, in that they are not necessary, at least two enforcement people at Brentford are not, as boaters using the tide on the Thames are very few and far between, and only come onto the canal when the lock keepers at Teddington and Limehouse allow due of course to the tide.

There are days when none passed by our moorings, so why enforcement people are to be employed there I can only imagine is the decision of someone who hasn't a clue.  There is no enforcement needed at the moorings either, as all are fully paid-up, otherwise they would not be there.
