Breach on the Rochdale?

THE word breach nowadays is not a word that Canal & River Trust tend to use, preferring 'leak' instead.

 

But call it what you will there is a breach/leak on the Rochdale Canal at Edward Kilner Lock 5 at Highroyd, that is causing concern, Keith Gudgin tells us.

Closed

We are informed that it is likely that the canal will have to be closed and the pound drained to allow work to be carried out, but no intimation is given as to the magnitude of the problem.

Boaters with bookings to cruise the waterway are being contacted.  Others considering using the Rochdale in this area should contact the Red Bull office on 03030 404040.

The waterway is now closed and will be until after the holidays.
