Know different

I REALISE that to impress the government Canal & River Trust have to make out that there are millions of people using the canal towpaths, as it of course makes it look as though the canals are loved by everyone, and so helps to impress the government to give it money, writes Yvonne Towers.

And of course it tries its utmost to get over that they are perfectly safe at all times, whilst we boaters and especially those who have been attacked, know different.

Worried

I always thought it came down to common sense with their use, but after reading about the lady being attacked in the middle of Birmingham, it certainly now has me worried, as being continuous cruisers we often try to moor in town and city centres. So though my partner being a man is not over-much concerned, I certainly am, and my walks along the towpaths are now definitely curtailed.

I thought I should point out that with the water tap being mentioned, being one that we have used, and that it was near the entertainment centre, it was the top of Farmer's Flight where the attack took place and not Aston Flight as was reported.
