Understanding the problems

WE WERE recently visited by the head of CaRT London Office after I had tweeted the National Volunteer Coordinator that CaRT did not seem interested to understand the Community Boaters' issues (we are affiliated to NCBA) and she put him in touch, writes Tony Bower.

He had decades of canals experience in various BW roles and quickly grasped and understood all the points we made and had a good down-to-earth knowledge of the practicalities and issues boaters face. Refreshingly different from all the usual office wallahs. We agreed to share issues in future.

Responded to

Sure enough—within a few weeks we had to report an old bedstead blocking the cut—a quick email was responded to PDQ without the usual need to explain to the call centre wallahs where the Regents Canal is! Obstruction removed in a matter of hours!

Credit where credit due—please publish this differing view of CaRT to balance all the HQ related problems you write about.
