Tinsley Flight navigable again

ONE of the two pumps that failed allowing a pound to slowly drain (Pump failure closes canal) has been repaired and is now in action keeping the Sheffield & South Yorkshire Navigation at Sheffield open.

It was in late November that the two pumps keeping the pound up to Victoria Quays (pictured) to Holmes Lock in water failed, but with one now back in action passage is now available through Tinsley Flight, though booking procedures are in place Keith Gudgin tells us.

Being repaired

The second pump is still in the process of being repaired, but the single one is able to cope with limited use of the flight.

Boaters are concerned that there were only the two unreliable pumps available, and that others could not have been quickly sourced.
