Swan helper pushed in Avon

A SWAN volunteer, who keeps his eye on the swans on the Avon at Stratford thought he would drown when he was pushed into the river by a man.

At the time Cyril Bennis was trying to rescue a swan that had something around it, when the man came up to him and pushed him into the water

He was on the bank by Bancroft Gardens near the Royal Shakespeare Theatre when he was approached by a man, and asked what he was doing.  When he started to explain the man wouldn't accept it but pushed the non-swimmer into the river.
