Aire & Calder work stopped due to emergency work elsewhere

THE contractors have withdrawn from the work on the Aire & Calder.
This was to repair Woodnook Lock (6) on the Wakefield Branch of the Aire & Calder, but emergency work on the Rochdale is keeping the contractors occupied.
Taking longer than expected
The work on the Rochdale is to finish the grouting of a lock that is taking longer than expected.
Canal & River Trust maintain that this means an additional stoppage at Woodnook Lock, with the waterway remaining closed from 23rd February to 15th March 2024.
After this date it is expected the lock will then be repaired.
