Lack of water closes navigation!

NOTWITHSTANDING the huge amount of rain recently the Leicester Section is closed through lack of it.

The level is too low for navigation between North Lock and Lime Kiln Lock with Canal & River Trust stating there has been an unexpected drop in water levels between the two locks on the Soar.

Water control

The local team are undertaking water control to get the levels back up as quickly as possible.

However boaters cannot currently travel along this section owing to the stoppage caused by the considerable damage when the Soar flooded into the canal, causing over 50 metres of bank to collapse, with only limited access on Wednesdays.
