Gate damage more servere than first thought

THE damage to the gate on Lock 5 on Bank Dole Cut has been found to be more severe than first thought.

This means that it will have to be removed, taken away for repair and then refitted before the lock can be reopened, Keith Gudgin reports.

Until then, this navigation on the Aire & Calder will remain closed.

It was a closer inspection of the lock gate that revealed the damage was more severe than first thought, hence it having to be taken away for repair.

The gate will be lifted out tomorrow, Thursday the 9th November, but it is not known when it will be repaired and returned and the lock reopened.
