Montgomery winter works cancelled

THE winter works on the Montgomery Canal at Lock 4 at Frankton has been cancelled.

The repair on the lock was to have been undertaken during the winter works, but this has been cancelled, for the trust has 're-prioritised the spend' onto an emergency grouting job elsewhere on the network, Keith Gudgin reports.

Open or closed?

Therefore Lock 4, the trust tells, is open, with the work Instead being be undertaken at a future date. However the trust also tells that the navigation is closed!

The planned work on Lock 1 at Lower Frankton will go ahead so the navigation will be closed from the 2nd January 2024 to the 15th March 2024.
