BOATERS who cruise through Walsall on the Birmingham Canal Navigations, will know of the waterside cinema, but it will soon be even closer, as the complex is to be extended.

Part of the Waterfront development, the Light Cinema layout is to be extended to include more seats, from 1,039 to 1,245, Roger Fox tells us.

Centrepiece

The cinema will form the centrepiece of the £12 million development for the town centre, and will then have eight screens, that will be opened next summer.

National restaurants, such as Pizza Express, Hungry Horse and Bella Italia have also signed up to take space in the complex.

Walsall Council's planning committee have given approval for the work.
