ONCE again the Brownhills Canal Festival will be taking place on the on the Wyrley and Essington Canal at Silver Street.

The Festival, which is organised by the group of volunteers who make up Brownhills Local Committee, will be held from 10am to 4pm on Sunday 29th June, 2014. The event, now in its 13th successful year, will host a number of attractions for all the family to enjoy, Brenda Ward tells us.

Plenty of entertainment

As well as the usual array of interesting craft stalls and information marquees there will be a 'trad' jazz band, a fully supervised canoe centre allowing children and young people to take to the water, 'Mad Dom' the outstanding children's magician and entertainer, birds of prey with which to get up close and personal for the first time ever. The picture shows part of the crowd at the 2011 event.

There will also be Birmingham's Ikon Gallery Slow Boat Art Project. So do come along and enjoy a great day out in the local community and help to preserve the heritage and historic aspect of the local area.
