Work at Barton Turn

DURING Autumn at Barton Turn Lock on the Trent & Mersey Canal, water was leaking into the lock chamber from under the concrete cill at the head of the lock.

This and general brickwork repairs are now being undertaken at this lock as part of the winter stoppage programme, Ralph Freeman tells us, and as his photograph shows.

Also the stoppages here and the downstream lock at Tatenhill are being extended to 8.00am on Wednesday 19th December.
