Next year's BCN Explorer Cruise

Published: Wednesday, 01 December 2010

AFTER the success of the cruises of the past four years it is the intention of the Society to hold a cruise again this year to encourage boaters to explore the Birmingham Canal Navigations prior to the Canal Festival at Pelsall.

A spokesman for the Birmingham Canal Navigations Society told that it was found that many boaters prefer the additional security of cruising in company with other boaters, and they enjoy the social side of informal gatherings at the designated mooring locations.

The Explorer Cruise will take a slightly different route this year, as we continue to encourage the use of the less travelled parts and to enjoy the little used pleasures of the northern BCN. This year we include a walk and conducted tour of BW's Bradley Workshops.

The Route

The cruise will commence from Curdworth, at Wigginshill Bridge, near The Kingsley on the morning of Saturday 4th June finishing at Pelsall Common on Friday 10th June ready for the BCNS Summer Rally at Pelsall Common, known as Canal Festival—Pelsall 2011.

Meet in at Curdworth on the evening of Friday 3rd June, with stops for the nights  Saturday 4th Above Perry Barr lock 12, Sunday 5th Ocker Hill, Monday 6th Wolverhampton, Tuesday 7th Walsall Town Arm, Wednesday 8th Willingsworth Bridge Walsall Canal for conducted tour of BW's Bradley Workshops, Thursday 9th Longwood Boat Club, Friday 10th  Pelsall Common.
