Took it literally!

WHEN a taxi driver accepted a fare to Aspley Basin in Huddersfield he took it literally—with his taxi ending in the basin itself!

The driver from the local firm of GT Cars delivered his fare, then it is thought accidentally reversed into the basin, with his car sinking in the water.

Managed to escape

He managed to escape, getting very wet in the process, with his vehicle stuck in the basin for several days, and needed the fire service to eventually remove it.

The basin is deep, with just the roof showing above the water, and the fire people installed inflated pathways to get around the car to get slings through the windows to be able to lift it out.
