New visitor moorings

NEW visitor moorings have been installed at Boston as part of improvements to encourage visiting boats to enjoy a short stay and to visit the new Black Sluice Lock.

This lock is the link to the Forty Foot, and is the first step in the Lincolnshire Waterways Partnership Fens Link Project.

Fixed level

The existing visitor mooring jetties at Boston are at fixed level, which presents access difficulties when the river level rises, and do not have the capacity for the increase that is expected of more  in narrowboats to Boston to the Link.

The new 'rise and fall' moorings have a dedicated access ramp which overcomes access difficulties when the river is at a high level, and are easily extendable to cater for increased use.

The £160,000 scheme has been developed through the Lincolnshire Waterways Partnership with funding from Lincolnshire County Council and British Waterways, with design and installation by Intermarine and managed by British Waterways.
