Objections to canalside development

FORMER Liberal Democrat leader, Charles Kennedy, is leading the campaign to stop a development by the Caledonian Canal.

Residents at Banavie are opposing the plans by British Waterways' to build two houses— one on each side of the historic Telford House by the side of the waterway.

The site overlooks Neptune's Staircase, the eight locks flight on the waterway, and it was Charles Kennedy who championed the world famous staircase of locks as one of the Seven Wonders of Scotland in 2006.

Hear objections

British Waterways Scotland will meet the campaigners to hear their objections to the development.

Neptune's Staircase is a very popular visitor attraction, and it is felt the two houses, crowding in Telford House, would be completely out of keeping.
