A SPATE OF BLUE-GREEN ALGAE has been noticed on the water on the Liverpool Link.
This causing it to be closed to navigation, Keith Gudgin reports.
Yesterday
The closure occurred yesterday, Thursday, starting at Bascule Bridge (pictured) and ending at Mann Island Lock.
The algae has been identified in Princes Dock, and in order to prevent it from entering the South Docks, the trust has taken precautionary measures.
This means the Liverpool Link will be closed to navigation while the situation is assessed and the trust works with the dock owner, Peel, to prevent any further spread.
Alternative route
Boaters can still get to to Salthouse Dock or Albert Dock by entering the docks from the Mersey.
Blue‑green algae can be very harmful, so do not come into contact with it and keep dogs on board.
