ENGINEERS HAVE BEEN ON SITE at Shireoaks Bottom Lock 44 on the Chesterfield Canal.
It is now operable, but with care, Keith Gudgin reports.
The lock was closed due to damage sustained to a paddle which was stuck in the up position and had become jammed, that was of course draining the pound above when the lock was used.
Navigation now possible
Navigation is now possible, but boaters are warned to use the lock with care.
And there is only one downstream paddle that is currently working.
Engineers will sort out the paddles in the near future then all paddles will be able to be used and there will be no problems navigating the lock.
