YESTERDAY EVENING A FIRE broke out on a narrowboat moored at Sutton Stop on the Coventry Canal.

Fire engines and other services were quickly on the spot on Wednesday evening when the fire broke out, with two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus tackling the fire and realising where the fire had started, Roger Fox reports.

Started behind wood burner

The two firefighters who went in confirmed that the fire had started behind a wood burner on the narrowboat.

A member of West Midlands Fire Service (WMFS) confirmed that three fire engines and three response vehicles were sent to the scene at just after 8pm after receiving a report of a boat on fire.

The boaters managed to escape the blaze and alerted the fire service. with no casualties reported.
