A ROTTEN PADDLE is causing yet another failure to complete the repair
This is Lock 4 on the Glasson Branch of the Lancaster Canal, Keith Gudgin reports.
It is the paddle on Lock 4 on the towpath side bottom gate that is rotten and now inoperable.
Repair options
Canal & River Trust are investigating repair options, but these paddles are of a unique design, and if a replacement is required it will mean sourcing specialist parts.
And it is told that this could take several weeks, with the lock closed to navigation.
