THE CANAL & RIVER TRUST tells it is closing a length of the Shropshire Union Canal to navigation.

This it from Foxey Wood winding hole to Bunbury Bottom Lock, Keith Gudgin reports.

Struggling

The reason given is that due to the recent breach on the Llangollen Canal it is struggling to maintain an adequate feed to the Shropshire Union Canal.

This is causing very low water levels between Bunbury and Beeston Iron locks, so it needs to close this section of canal until levels rise.
