THE BROKEN BAR LANE SWING BRIDGE that failed two weeks ago is still not repaired.
This swing bridge 197 on the Leeds & Liverpool Canal failed on the 29 November, Keith Gudgin reports.
It was eventually discovered that it had a fault with the electrics, but there seems to be a problem getting the required spare parts, that are holding up the repair.
Quickly repaired
The bridge also failed on the 12th November, but that time was quickly repaired.
As previously stated, once the parts are received there will be a delay whilst provision is put in place for the road closure, that the bridge carries, that has to take place to allow the parts to be installed.
It seems the parts have been received as it is told they will be fixed in position on this coming Saturday evening, when the road will be closed. So should reopen on Sunday morning.
