THERE IS A NAVIGATION CLOSURE on the Kennet & Avon Canal.

Boaters blamed again

And yet again boaters are being blamed.

It what is now becoming the all to regular excuse by Canal & River Trust that this was caused by paddles being left open.

This time it is the pound between locks Froxfield Bottom 70 and Picketsfield Lock 71 that has been drained of water.

That really can only be done if all paddles are open, and that is ridiculous as it implies that after boaters have left the lock they walk back and then open the top paddles in addition to the bottom paddles!

Several days to refill

What it really is—and so often—the leaking gates or leaking waterway, especially as we are told 'We are currently working to refill the pound, which is expected to take several days'.

It certainly should not take so long—unless there are leaks...
