THE POUND ON THE Kennet & Avon was closed as supposedly all paddles were left open on a lock.
This was the short pound between Picketsfield Lock 71 and Cobblers Lock. (Pictured.) Keith Gudgin reports.
The pound has now recovered and navigation is possible.
Canal & River trust maintained that this would take several days to open, but it has only taken two, from the 3rd of November to the 5th.
Paddles left open
The trust told that paddles had been left open thus causing the draining of the Kennet & Avon pound.
But this would suggest all paddles must have been open to drain the pound, and a boater would not do this, though that is what the trust implied.
