THE RE-OPENING OF FOXTON FLIGHT only lasted for a week.
Closed again
But lack of water on the summit pound means it has to be closed again, Keith Gudgin reports.
This means the closure will be from Foxton Top Lock 8 to Kilby Lock 30 of the Leicester Section.
The closure taking place tomorrow, Thursday 6th November at 4pm. Canal & River Trust telling that 'the continued lack of prolonged rainfall means that our reservoirs are depleted and the feed from them needs to be turned off to allow them to replenish'. Our picture shows one of the side ponds that help save water on the flight.
Last boat
The last boat in the flight will be at 3pm, then the locks will once again close.
As previously reported the pound above the locks contains large marinas that have to have a reasonable depth of water.
LATEST: The stoppage now goes further that Kilby Lock 30, all the way to the Soar at Kings Lock 38, that will also close on Thursday 6th November but at 4.29pm, we are told.
