IN ADDITION TO THE OXFORD being open for a week, the Leicester Section of the Grand Union Canal is also to be reopened.

But again only for a week, so that marooned boaters can get back to their moorings.

The opening will be next Monday, the 27th, but only until the end of the week, when it will be closed again.

Canal & River Trust state that it is aiming to keep both the Leicester Section and the Oxford open for one week.

Should be aware

It is told that the trust will be making the most of the little remaining reservoir storage to support navigation, but boaters should be aware that water levels may drop unexpectedly and if they fall too low, the canal may become unnavigable and then either of the navigations will be closed before the end of the week.

So should boaters be able, they would be wise to use an early part of the week to make their journey otherwise they may find the navigation closed.
