BOATERS ARE BEING WARNED of thefts from narrowboats on the Paddington Arm.
So many have been reported that Canal & River Trust has issued a warning of the thefts between Bulls Bridge and the Bottom Lock 97 of the Hanwell Flight. reports Keith Gudgin.
There is no advice from the trust regarding these thefts, just telling that they have been reported.
Make it difficult
But perhaps when boaters leave their boats it would be advisable to make their boats as difficult to enter as possible.
Many use a simple padlock, that is hardly any deterrent, with some, we learn having been smashed off. Perhaps a stronger padlock would be advisable.
For ourselves, being aware of thefts, we had Simon Piper fix steel doors both aft and forward, with a built in numbers lock aft. Which perhaps would be advice for those having a narrowboat built.
