THE CANAL & RIVER TRUST have it wrong about Wrenbury Bridge 20 on the Llangollen Canal.
It tells it is a swing bridge, but it is in fact a lift bridge, as Linda points out.
A fault
The trust have given notice that the Llangollen Canal will be closed from the 13th October to 14th October inclusive as the 'swing bridge' has been identified with a fault.
This follows a recent inspection, when the trust's teams identified a fault with the bridge.
It is still operational in the short term, but replacement parts are required to complete a permanent repair. These parts have now been ordered, with the trust telling:
Wrenbury Swing Bridge
'Our team will be on site at Bridge 20, Wrenbury Swing Bridge, to replace both hydraulic cylinders starting Monday, 13 October, from 7am. The work is expected to be completed by Tuesday, 14 October, at 5pm.
Let's hope the parts are for a lift bridge and not a swing bridge as stated, as Linda adds—'oh dear I hope the team aren't expecting to mend a swing bridge. Its a lift bridge!'
