Car in Rochdale Canal

THE THIRD CAR in two weeks in a canal is in the Bridgewater in Stretford.

This was caused by a  car crashing into a van then careering of the road into the waterway, Janet Friend reports.

The driver was safely rescued with the police, firefighters and ambulance at the scene after being alerted.

Greater Manchester Police tell the driver has been safely removed and was taken to hospital as a precaution.

The incident closed the park and ride that the road services, and the canal is closed until the vehicle can be removed.
